St. Louis Video | production company | video producers

We tend to do most of our video productions for online use or other small video projects.

Most of our web work for companies consists of video and photography.  Many of our website designs include videos that are very web friendly, meaning they work!

Typically we go on site for a video shoot to record footage in a location that the client desires. We also video tape and provide still photography at our studio.

Videos with little or no budget can be produced by our creative video artisans.

Still images work very well when combined with music.  Add a voice over to help explain your story and you still keep your production within your budget parameters.  We created three different video clips for this client for their web and sales promotion kit used to market the firm to it’s customers.  Help us to understand your goals and video budget, we’ll work with you to solve your communication problem.

A rather yummy st louis video production.  We videotaped at the St Louis Foodservice company for a full day and shot a number of finished dishes throughout the production.  This was not the cold storage shoot day, but the actual cooking in the test kitchen where recipes are tested by the foodie experts and those who love food.  Literally, no one walked away from the production shoot hungry.  We shot early in the morning until late in the evening completing the task of video taping over twenty different dish recipes from some of the best restaurants in the St. Louis area.  A video taping crew of three people including a food stylist were involved with the production.

We shot this video production in Saint Louis Missouri.  The total shooting time was for two days at the corporate manufacturing facility in St Louis, north county area.  We really dressed the shoot, putting lipstick on perhaps as some might say.  But with the proper lighting, which we specialize in, can do wonders for a video production shoot.  What a novel idea lighting for video in St Louis.  Lighting makes all the difference in the world, especially on those shots where the large plant with it’s dark voids absorbs the light, practically all of it.

The editor, Dave Topping, was also happy with the better lighting so that we did not have to do much color correcting in video editing and post production.  Dave and I added the magic in post.  We also worked again with Scott Bussen as our voiceover.  We selected the music to be appropriate for a contemporary corporate sound.

What’s unique about our video production team is our expertise behind the camera. Early on, we shot business documentaries, which quickly taught us to be flexible and adaptable—and how to get the best out of any video production situation.

We’re especially proud of our camerawork and lighting. These two critical elements will make your video production look very polished and professional.

You can count on our creative crews to be extremely organized and efficient, helping streamline the entire video production process. We are available to work in our studio—or anywhere you need us.

When shooting on location always bring extra lights.  In our video productions around the city of St Louis, we have always brought with our crew a full compliment of lights.  In most manufacturing plants, at least the older ones, have poor lighting.  The dark areas need more that just reflector fill, they need light!  As a producer, I have seen a great deal of poorly lit video from production houses of all sizes.  A good quality director would never stand for inadequate lighting.  In fact Mike Haller does not, he makes one of the crew, often me go get the extra lamp to make the shot perfectly lit.  To be honest, I am glad he is always so concerned about getting the right shot.  All told it increase our video quality level far above the normal fare in town.

We want you to look your very best on camera!

Makeup

Use makeup sparingly, unless you’re told otherwise by your Producer/Director.

If you have a makeup artist on your shoot you will be fine.  If not, the director or camera operator will most likely add some powder to your face to reduce the shine or glare from the lights.  Especially on the nose, forehead, and bald spots.

Be sure to use powder that closely matches your color of skin and careful with rouge because it will stand out on video.

Keep all other make-up very simple. Avoid make-up which contains glitter, or is frosted.  Before your video production talk with your producer and director, they will advise you as to what looks best for your particular shoot.

Consider if you need Aerial Filming (Helicopters/Planes), in some productions an aerial video or still images from a bird’s eye view are necessary to convey the information.

Will a single camera work?  Yes in most instances, but we do have the capability of Multi-Camera Shoots also.

Your Producer will help in your need for Specialized Equipment (Steadicams, Jibs, Dollies, Teleprompter, Makeup and other specialized artisans)

Professional videotaping

Always use a tripod.

When videotaping you need the kind of tripod that has a “fluid” head, to produce smooth motion.

If outside on location, shoot with the sun on your back.

The best-looking footage will come if you shoot either during sunrise or during sundown. For all other times of the day, you will have to carefully pay attention where the sun is located and either avoid shooting altogether when the light is harsh during mid-day, or to make sure you have the sun on your back. The ideal time to capture footage without a lot of camera adjustments is on a cloudy day.

Before shooting, set your white balance.

A camera that allows you to manually set a custom white balance is the best. Then your camera is ready to shoot in the right conditions with the right colors.  Plus the camera will be automatically exposed the right way.

Plan your shots according to your script.

Always plan your shots, how you will pan, how you will zoom, and how you will compose the picture. It’s a good practice to not zoom in and out fast, or too much, and don’t pan a lot either. This gives more time to the viewer to study the subject, without your video being too static. No script?  You should always shoot to a script!

Become a difficult editor.

Select only the best video you have shot.  Cut where there is a lot of camera shake, cut where the composition is not right, and cut when the wind is over-powering the conversation. And edit according to your script.
